Welcome to the Ottawa Compassion Collective Guatemala Fundraiser
We are looking to help bring much-needed relief to children and families specifically in Guatemala living in poverty who have been impacted by COVID-19. And we would like to invite you along in the journey!
Thank you for helping to bring much-needed relief to children and families living in poverty who have been impacted by COVID-19, as we come alongside one of our global missions partner, Compassion Canada!
Did you know that this crisis has the potential to undo at least 10 years of progress toward poverty alleviation in developing countries?
This prediction is heartbreaking. But, we can stop it from becoming a reality. Together, with your support, we are partnering with Compassion to equip local churches across the globe to provide immediate relief—like desperately needed food, housing security and hygiene supplies—to the most vulnerable communities. Through the COVID-19 fund, Compassion is seeking to help restore what COVID-19 has destroyed through urgent provision of critical needs like:
o Food kits with rice, eggs, meat, milk and non-perishables
o Medical care
o Housing support like rent relief
o Hygiene supplies like sanitizer, soap, vitamins and supplements, household cleaning supplies and protective masks.
This initiative will provide 1,853 Compassion staff and volunteers with preventive health training as it relates to COVID-19, as well as necessary safety supplies including face masks and gloves. These measures will prevent the spread of infection and help support the safe reopening of communities over the months to come.
109 Compassion centres across Guatemala will directly benefit from this fundraiser including the 4 centres in which the Ottawa Collective focuses on.
Compassion Guatemala will monitor the progress of this intervention and organize and deliver training webinars to local centres.
Compassion Guatemala will administer and monitor the use of funds.
This is a four-month intervention which began in September 2020 and is estimated to conclude in January 2021. Church partners will continue to report their progress and request extensions if need be.
Please help us to restore what COVID-19 has destroyed for those in poverty!
