ONLINE TR Water, Sanitation and Hygiene FY25: Jon Severin

We are excited to invite you into this opportunity to join us in meeting the needs of children and families living in poverty around the world.

AT LARGE:

Right now, one billion children worldwide are experiencing multi-dimensional poverty. They live without access to education, healthcare, housing, nutrition, sanitation or water. They live without hope for a bright future. But the compassion of people like you can change that.

The needs are great. But our compassion can interrupt poverty with hope.

Water, sanitation and hygiene are some of our most basic needs, and a lack of access to them can be deadly. When you give to Compassion's Water, Sanitation and Hygiene initiatives, you ensure that children around the world have clean water to drink, the ability to practice good hygiene and protection from deadly diseases through things such as washrooms, hand washing stations and hygiene education.

OUR FUNDRAISER:

We are raising funds for Compassion's Water, Sanitation and Hygiene initiatives! In partnership with Compassion, our funds will be allocated to the Water Wells+ in Burkina Faso project, and will go towards providing solar-powered boreholes with hand washing stations in four communities struggling with high rates of water-borne illness.

Why have we chosen this particular project?? Our sponsor child (who is the same age as Annaliese) lives in Burkina Faso, so this project holds a special place in our hearts. We realize that we often take water for granted here in Canada, and so this project is about educating ourselves and others, while also trying to make a difference.

WHAT IS OUR FAMILY DOING ABOUT IT?

1. Fundraising - Our hands have been busy making goods (soap, jewelry, lip balm, scrunchies, etc.) to sell at Christmas craft fairs, so please look for details about which ones we will be at! And of course, donations through this fundraising website are always appreciated.

2. Sacrificial Giving - Our family will be foregoing Christmas gifts this year as our contribution to this initiative. What began as a difficult conversation with our girls, trying to encourage buy-in while accepting that there won't be any presents under the tree on Christmas morning, has now transformed! Our family is excited and enthusiastic about taking on this project, knowing how little efforts such as this can make a big difference in someone else's life.

3. Educating - We are learning a TON about Burkina Faso and the various, urgent needs relating to water, sanitation, and hygiene, and we are looking forward to opportunities to educate our local community about our findings.
